Most of the Keqiutou archaeological cluster is located between Shanxianmei Village and Jianhu Village in the Suping area of the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone. First discovered in 1958, the site is the oldest Neolithic site ever discovered along the Fujian coast. The Keqiutou site is estimated to be between 5500 and 6500 years old, and is representative of early Neolithic culture in the Fujian and Taiwan regions. At present, the Keqiutou site cluster includes the Keqiutou site, the Donghuaqiu site and the Guishan site, covering a total area of over 160,000 square meters. In 2019, the Keqiutou site was included in the eighth group of major cultural heritage sites to be placed under national-level protection.
