Located in the south part of Taining World Natural Heritage Site, Zhaixia Grand Canyon covers a total area of five square kilometers and four kilometers in length. Four canyons including Xuantian Canyon, Tongtian Canyon, Panlong Canyon and Yitian Canyon comprised the Grand Canyon sequentially, which is a splendid landscape for tourists and geographical researchers. In the scenic areas, the red sandstone formed in the late Cretaceous (6.5 million years ago) have been developed into the typical “Danxia” landform by the fault and fissure, streams and weather erosion and gravity collapse in the Neotectonic movement. Therefore, you can see “Danxia” cliffs, caves, valleys, and barrier lakes there. The greatness in numbers and a variety of sizes and shapes contribute a “Danxia Caves Museum” and “Danxia Gorges Park”. Spectacular cliffs, lush plants, vigorous bamboos and the climbing vines make the Grand Canyon a place like Shangri-la Paradise.
