Originated in the fourth year of Emperor Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1130), the hall was first located in Fuqian Village in juxtaposition with Pingshan Academy. It was devastated in wars in the early Yuan Dynasty and got relocated to its current site in the sixth year of Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1880). The Wufu Family Liu moved to Fujian from the Wenjing period of the Middle Tang Dynasty. The first ancestor, Liu Xiang, General Jinwu, passed it to the seventh grandson of the Song Dynasty, Liu Ge, whose posthumous name was Zhong Xian (display of royalty). Stone carvings of “Song Confucianism” and “Liu’s Ancestral Hall” are inlaid on the upper part of the hall gate. The brick carving of the gatehouse is exquisite, and the ancient style still remains. In December 1992, the People’s Government of Wuyishan City announced it as among the fourth batch of cultural relics protection sites.
