Peitian Ancient Village

Peitian Ancient village was built in the Southern Song Dynasty with a history about 800 years. Its total area is 13.4 square kilometers, with a population of 1,489 distributing in 14 villager groups and 389 households. There are 56 cultural relics sites (25 national protection sites, 28 provincial protection sites and three cultural relics sites). The ancient folk houses of this village were mainly built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including 30 enclosed houses in the style of Nine halls and eighteen courtyards, 21 ancestral halls, six academies, five temples, two imperial memorial archways and an ancient long street. All of these constitute a 72,000-square meter ancient building complex, which is known as the “first village of Fujian folk houses”, “folk Palace Museum” and “Hakka Manor”. It has been successively rated as the sixth batch of national key cultural relic protection sites, China’s famous historical and cultural villages, China’s top ten most beautiful villages and towns, China’s characteristic villages, national characteristic landscape tourism villages, and national village planning pilot villages. It is also a national 4A scenic spot, a provincial ecological and cultural village, and one of the top ten rural tourism experimental bases in Fujian and Taiwan.
