Huotong Town: It is located in the northwest of Jiaocheng District, Ningde City, 47 km away from Ningde City. Huotong River, one of the eight water systems in Fujian Province, runs through the whole area from northwest to Southeast. It is said that Huo Tong lived in Huolin cave during the Zhou Dynasty, hence the name. The territory is not only well vegetated, famous for National Forest Park, canyon waterfall and many botanical gardens, but also has many cultural relics. For example, Huotong irrigation project, a national key cultural relic protection site, Helin palace, one of the four famous Taoist palaces in China, and Huayan Temple, a religious holy land of “no more than Zhiti, no monk” in Zhiti Mountain. Huotongxia street also has a relatively complete Ming and Qing style old block. Huotong string lion and Huotong Tiezhi are listed as the first and second batch of national intangible cultural heritage respectively. Huotong town has been listed as a demonstration town of agricultural science and education in Fujian Province, a pilot town of small town construction in Fujian Province, a township of Chinese folk culture and art, and a national ecological town. In 2010, Huotong town was rated as a famous historical and cultural town in China for its profound historical and cultural accumulation, exquisite folk art, superior natural ecological resources, glorious revolutionary history and distinctive ancient architectural style.
