“Island of wind, charm of stone, colorful Tanshui”, this is the true picture of Tanshui Village. Tanshui, which lies in the north of Mount Jun, is built around the mountain, creating an image as an otherworldly sort of place. The village dated back to the Ming Dynasty. It covers an area of 3.8 square kilometers, and has seven subordinate natural villages. Strolling in the ancient village of Tanshui, you will feel refreshing with the vast stretches of seascape. Not far from the village entrance, a field of golden sunflowers is dancing in the wind, which is really eye-catching. The roads in the village extend in all directions. As far as you can see in this village, colorful flowers and trees are exceedingly fascinating and verdant. Nevertheless, several decades ago, Tanshui was just an isolated and mountainous fishing village with few roads. With the continuous development of tourism industry in the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, the fate of Tanshui has been totally changed. In 2016, Tanshui was taken as “ancient village”, planning to implant the elements of cross-strait common home and business start-up site for cross-strait youth on the basis of tourist attraction. Thanks to the programme, some of the stone houses have been transformed into cultural and creative workshops and coffee bookstores, bringing about a flood of tourists. The ancient village now has burst into a new life.
